Pre-2009 Alastair Morriss joins our Tiverton office as Senior Scientist

August 2008: Alastair Morriss joins our Tiverton office as Senior Scientist.

With professional experience in river and wetland restoration, flood forecasting, 1D and 2D ISIS and TUFLOW hydraulic modelling, GIS, hydrology and hydrometry, Alastair brings a broad range of skills, knowledge and experience to our growing south west team. Prior to joining Hydro-Logic, Alastair worked for Edenvale Young Associates. As part of a team responsible for the configuration and calibration of Environment Agency flood forecasting models, he covered some of the largest catchments in England and Wales – including the Severn, Thames and Trent.

His experience includes stage-discharge rating review and extension (via a variety of modelling techniques), flood risk mapping, flood risk assessment and rainfall-runoff model reviews. His strong interest in river rehabilitation projects requires a balance between his hydrological, ecological, flood risk and engineering interests. His successful knowledge of aquatic ecology, rivers and modelling has supported restoration projects in both urban and rural environments. Alastair has also been responsible for the novel use of modern modelling techniques in river and wetland restoration scheme design. His appointment provides an opportunity to extend our services in this sector.
