Trash screens and grilles guarding entrances to drainage channels can easily become blocked with floating debris.

During heavy rain, such blockages cause major flooding of roads, houses and businesses.

Surveillance cameras can be programmed to monitor the site automatically (at designated time intervals or triggered during flooding) or manually by dial-up.

Alternatively telemetry outstations can monitor the rise in water level and automatically transmit an alarm by text message or email to enable maintenance teams to take preventive action.

Data can be viewed on a secure internet site at any time of the day or night to identify potential patterns or problems as flooding develops
