Catchment Hydrology and Sustainable Management (CHASM)

timeview.net is used as part of the CHASM project operated by Newcastle University on the River Eden at Appleby in West Moorland.

CHASM is a national framework for a long-term programme of catchment research that presently involves UK universities, research institutes and end-user organisations, and is led by the University of Newcastle. In addition to the Eden catchment, the project involves three catchments in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

The ChannelMaster reveals across-stream flow structure in previously unavailable detail and precision A ChannelMaster ADCP measures river velocity, stage and temperature then using velocity index method, a flow is derived. This data is then displayed on timeview.net for further processing and analysis.

The CHASM project involves the following organisations, with those associated with the Eden study indicated below:

 University of Newcastle (co-ordinator) (Eden)
 University of Aberdeen
 University of Dundee
 University of Durham (Eden)
 University of Lancaster (Eden)
 University of Leeds (Eden)
 University of Ulster
 CEH Wallingford
 CEH Lancaster (Eden)
