Housing Developments
Hydro-Logic was appointed to undertake a Flood Consequence Assessment for a proposed housing development near the River Severn in Llandinam and at Llanidloes in Powys. Access to the site and part of the development were identified as being in the flood plain and accordingly, a flood map challenge was undertaken. The analysis used hydrological and hydraulic modelling to successfully challenge the flood plain extent. A similar study was undertaken at Felindre, with topographic survey and hydraulic modelling to inform a flood map challenge.
Hydro-Logic is undertaking a detailed FRA for a proposed development at Arlingham of residential units, in Gloucestershire. These are located in the tidal flood plain of the River Severn. This has necessitated a review of compensation storage and stormwater drainage. In addition, a breach analysis was required in view of the proximity to the flood defences of the River Severn.
Redevelopment Projects

Hydro-Logic undertook an FRA for a redevelopment project in Slough that involved demolition of residential units and replacement by flats. The evaluation of the flood plain boundary required modelling of a series of culverts along with flow over a road embankment. Compensation storage was required as part of the development.
Residential Developments
Hydro-Logic is undertaking a detailed FRA for a proposed development near Exeter. The development, comprising a series of residential units, is in the Environment Agency’s flood zone and modelling is required to establish flood levels and any requirements for compensation. Hydrological and hydraulic modelling is being undertaken and is utilising the latest revised flood estimation procedures for the South West.
Hydro-Logic undertook an FRA for a residential development on the banks of the River Roden in Shawbury, Shropshire. The project involved the setting up a hydraulic model and its use to establish design flood levels.
Hydro-Logic provided expert witness services in relation to a residential development in Walsall. The application had been rejected on the grounds of flood risk, amongst other issues. Hydro-Logic undertook a review of the site in for flood risk. Evidence was provided to the legal team and in a successful Planning Appeal. |
