General

What is MCERTS?

The scheme was launched in April 2003 to fulfil the Environment Agency’s obligation under the Urban Wastewater Treatment Directive. This allows environmental measurements to be made in accordance with the Agency’s quality requirements under the MCERTS framework. In the case of flow monitoring, this means that any discharge consent that is above 50m3/day or that has MCERTS compliance stated within the consent requires an MCERTS certificate.

Capability

HLS has been part of the MCERTS Scheme since its start in 2003 and have certified over 1300 sites since then. We can undertake any aspect of the inspection process, be it the design through to advice on installation, the inspection itself and arranging a Quality Management System (QMS) audit. We also offer training and annual calibration and verification services.

The team consists of three experience MCERTS inspectors, who are managed by our MCERTS Manager, Karen Clack. So when the inspectors are busy out on site, Karen can be available for any queries or making arrangements for the next inspections to ensure that jobs runs smoothly.

HLS have certified sites for:

  • Yorkshire Water, Northumbrian Water, Severn Trent Water, Anglian Water, Thames Water, Northern Ireland Water and Affinity Water.
  • Major EPR/ IPPC permit holders, including: Dairy Crest, Premier Foods, FCC Environment/ Waste Recycling Group, Viridor, Robert Wiseman, Huntsman Tioxide.
