Cottingham Culvert Trash Screen Monitoring

HLS were commissioned to install flood monitors in the village of Cottingham, near Kingston upon Hull. The area has been dramatically affected by the June 2007 floods in which extreme rainfall combined with saturated land, resulting in localised flooding. This was made worse by the effects of easily blocked 'trash screen' at numerous culvert locations. HLS was engaged to provide a level monitoring and early warning system at grille sites where the Council's Engineering and Drainage Team had most concerns about flood risk from blockages during storm conditions.

Edinburgh City Council, 2010
Flood and Trash Screen Monitoring

HLS was contracted by the City of Edinburgh Council in 2010 in supply and install water level monitoring and flood warning systems at eight key river sites and one reservoir across the City. The objective was to deliver vital and timely alarm messages of rising levels to warn of potential flooding and allow time for defences to be deployed.
