Business Development Manager (Scotland)

We are currently seeking to expand our consulting services business in Scotland.  We already have a well-established and successful hydrometric services business in Scotland, providing monitoring and flood warning services to a wide range of utility, local authority and industrial clients and wish to expand our services into the flood risk appraisal and monitoring.  We have a vacancy at principal/associate, for a self-starting and independent individual, with experience and expertise of the Water Industry and property development sector in Scotland, who wishes to be part of a growing and ambitious company.

Business Development Manager Scotland



  • Provision of technical consultancy in Flood risk management, flood risk assessment and surface water management to support property development and construction activities.
  • Technical project management, including technical report writing and review.
  • Business development in the flood risk sector in Scotland, including writing fee proposals, winning and delivering technical consultancy services in the water industry.
  • Familiarity with UK Flood Estimation Procedures and a good knowledge of Scottish flood risk planning policies.


  • Hydraulic modelling experience – either as technical manager or undertaking the work
  • Engineering design of surface water and foul drainage systems
  • Engineering design of Sustainable drainage (SuDS) systems


Hydrological assessment of catchments and watercourses


You will have:

  • A degree in relevant subject (e.g. Environmental Science, Geography, Engineering)
  • More than 10 years’ experience of the UK Water Industry including time working in Scotland
  • Good knowledge of the water industry and of the application water management and stormwater control to the development sector
  • An extensive working network of contacts in the Water Industry and property development sectors in Scotland


  • Self-starter, confident and an excellent communicator, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work to deadlines and to manage and motivate others to achieve the same
  • Interest in working in the water & environment sector


Scotland – location to be decided. Could be home based initially and we do have an existing office in Stirling
