Flood Warning System in Ruthin

29/09/2015

Hydro-Logic Services were appointed by Denbighshire County Council to install a flood warning system at a critical culvert in Ruthin. The upstream catchment responds rapidly and in the past blockage of the trash screen has almost led to flooding at the site.

The system consists of an Isodaq Frog RX GSM data logger with two Impress pressure sensors to measure water level upstream and downstream of the screen with a differential channel that is set up to detect blockage.

The site has a blockage alarm level and an upstream water level which when exceeded will send out text message and email alarms to Council staff to alert them to possible flooding issues.

This site adds to 3 existing sites in the Corwen area that have been operating since last year monitoring levels in and around a reservoir site.

Water level data from each site is sent daily to the Timeview website where it can be viewed and downloaded from any web enabled device.

Hydro-Logic Services operate a network of over 600 flood warning and trash screen monitoring sites across the UK for over 65 local authorities, the Environment Agency, private customers and drainage boards.
